Saprea, a nonprofit dedicated to liberating individuals and society from child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts, has partnered with Edovo to make critical healing resources accessible to incarcerated survivors across the United States. Through this collaboration, Saprea has adapted its support group curriculum into a ten-lesson course designed to help survivors understand the long-term effects of abuse and develop coping strategies for trauma recovery. This course is now available on Edovo’s tablets, which are used in over 1,200 correctional facilities nationwide.
Previously, Saprea’s efforts to support incarcerated survivors faced logistical challenges due to the diverse policies, safety measures, and organizational structures of individual correctional facilities. In-person programming also proved time-intensive, requiring the recruitment, vetting, and training of volunteers across various locations. Partnering with Edovo streamlines access, allowing Saprea to reach more than 970,000 incarcerated individuals through a single platform.
Edovo’s platform provides a trusted and secure environment for educational content, with correctional facilities relying on the organization to vet and distribute digital learning resources. With Saprea’s new course, survivors now have an opportunity to engage with trauma-informed education designed specifically to support their healing journey.
“This initiative is particularly vital given that, on average, 66% of incarcerated women report experiencing sexual abuse as children,” said Chris Yadon, Managing Director at Saprea. “This partnership enables us to support survivors in a scalable and impactful way. Our course meets incarcerated survivors where they are. By utilizing Edovo’s technology, we are expanding the reach of our services and ensuring survivors have access to critical resources, no matter where they are incarcerated.”
Saprea’s course, titled How Can I Heal from Child Sexual Abuse?, includes ten structured lessons featuring educational videos, comprehension questions, healing activities, and self-reflection exercises. The curriculum was developed collaboratively by Saprea’s Outreach and Education and Research teams and reviewed by Edovo’s senior instructional designer and Saprea’s chief clinical officer before its official launch on December 2, 2024. Since its introduction on Edovo’s platform, over 6,000 incarcerated individuals have completed all ten lessons, demonstrating both the need for and engagement with this crucial resource.
“At Edovo, we are committed to making education and self-improvement accessible to all incarcerated individuals, ensuring they have the tools to create meaningful change in their lives. Yet, survivor-focused education remains a significant gap in correctional settings —one that can mean the difference between feeling trapped in the past or empowered to reclaim the future. That’s why our partnership with Saprea is so vital” said Brian Hill, CEO at Edovo, “Together, we are closing this gap—bringing survivor-focused education to nearly 1 million incarcerated learners nationwide. With access to knowledge, resources, and a path forward, survivors can reclaim their strength, break free from the past, and step boldly into a future they define.”
The course is now available on Edovo’s tablets to users across 1,200 correctional facilities. Saprea and Edovo are committed to expanding this collaboration to provide educational resources that help incarcerated individuals heal and rebuild their lives.
